Basic Smoothie Recipe
Smoothies are delicious drinks that
make you feel good and are good for you! You can make them in a blender
with any combination of fresh or frozen fruit. Generally, most smoothie
reciepes put either a banana or a mango in each of their smoothies. So you
can make combinations of two or more fruits, making sure one of them is
mango or banana. You will need to add vanilla yogurt or frozen yogurt, however,
some people prefer to use soy milk instead. |
If you are having a smoothie
instead of a meal, add protein powder or powdered milk. If you are having
a smoothie as a snack add a cup of ice cubes so it isn't so rich. Try experimenting
with flavors such as vanilla, almond exract, lemon juice and honey. |
Smoothie Making Tips
|
Freeze the fruit for a frostier
drink. (Banana's work well) |
Avoid sweetened frozen fruit
which may make the drink too syrupy sweet. |
Trouble getting the frozen Yoplait
out of the container? Tear off the foil cap and then microwave for about
20 seconds on high. Use a long handled spoon to scoop it out from the bottom. |
Drink too thick? Add more juice. |
Drink too thin? Add more fruit
or ice cubes. |
Drink too tart? Add a packet
of sweetener or 2 tablespoons silken tofu. |
Drink too sweet? Add lemonade, lemon juice or 2 tablespoons tofu. |
Almost all fruit tastes good
in a smoothie, with one glaring exception: Grapes! |
